Anawim Housing began the Housing Opportunities Program (HOP) in 2016, housing 40 chronically homeless individuals in Permanent Supportive Housing. This program is funded through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Program managers provide case management services in order to address housing stability.
We're excited to announce that the program has been extended. Starting November 1st, HOP2 will begin. HOP2 will house an additional 26 chronically homeless individuals at the start of the critical winter weather season here in Iowa. Our newest program participants have been living unsheltered for significant amounts of time and the ability to move into Permanent Housing will change their lives dramatically. Many will be able to receive the medical and psychiatric care that has been long overdue once they are stably housed due to the connected case management services Anawim Housing is able to provide with this grant structure.
