On March 9th, The Iowa Finance Authority awarded $6.8 million in federal affordable housing tax credits to 11 rental projects in Iowa, including three in Greater Des Moines, adding 581 units of affordalbe housing in 9 counties. Anawim Housing was awarded $4,562,960 in tax credits for the Brickstones at Riverbend project-- a 30-unit development for seniors ages 55 and older on 6th Avenue in Des Moines. The Brickstones at Riverbend will be a mixed-income, urban-style, multi-family building. The project is anticipated to break ground in the fall of 2016 with an anticipated completion in summer of 2017.
Anawim also served as consultant on two other Iowa projects that were rewarded tax credit funding: The Villas at Meadow Springs in Ankeny, and Paragon Square in Dubuque. Anawim consulted for Frantz Community Investors on the Paragron Square project-- converting an abandoned school and convent into 27 units of affordable housing. Anawim will serve in a compliance monitoring role during and after construction of The Villas at Meadow Springs in Ankeny. Both consulting projects are projected to be completed in 2017.
These awards will allow Anawim to continue moving forward with the vision that every person has a home that supports self-sufficiency.
Great days ahead!
