Full Circle Recovery Community Center (Full Circle RCC) is an independent, nonprofit organization led and governed by representatives of local communities in recovery, with locations in Council Bluffs, Des Moines, and Sioux City. This organization was established as the result of a strategic partnership between Anawim Housing and The Beacon to maximize expertise and capacity for serving individuals with substance use disorders. Anawim Housing is the largest provider of permanent supportive housing in the state of Iowa, serving individuals and families who have experienced homelessness and might also live with mental illness, substance use disorder, or a physical disability. The Beacon is a Des Moines-based nonprofit that provides a client-centered community living environment for adult women in central Iowa who have experienced trauma and systemic inequity.
Full Circle RCC expands pathways to recovery that empower people to embrace their full potential, and serves as a recovery resource for the local community. Full Circle RCC provides peer recovery coaching, peer support groups, social activities, resource connection, and community education to achieve its mission. Full Circle RCC is not a treatment center or a drop-in center. It offers emotional, informational, and practical supports for individuals and families affected by substance use.
Volunteers are integral to the success of Full Circle RCC, as they lead the development of the recovery community center, both physically and through a calendar of activities. Full Circle RCC has created a new volunteer coordinator position in Council Bluffs, Sioux City, and Des Moines, to ensure operations are effectively managed by volunteers who are people in recovery, coaching other people in recovery. The volunteer coordinator provides mentorship to volunteers who seek to develop their leadership skills within the recovery community and beyond.
The volunteer coordinator is responsible for developing and overseeing volunteer activities at Full Circle RCC. Duties include recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, and supervising volunteers; matching volunteers with different roles based on their experiences, skills, and interests; maintaining accurate volunteer records; and overseeing volunteer recognition. The volunteer coordinator will become a certified recovery coach and will manage the center’s telephone recovery support program. Engagement with volunteers will be culturally responsive, trauma informed, and based on the needs identified by those in recovery at whatever stage they may be.
Submit a cover letter and resume by email to Cindy West, Full Circle RCC Program Director, at email@example.com. The position will remain open until filled.
