Officials with Hubbell Realty said a whirlwind building project set to be completed in nine days will actually finish on the seventh day.

Hubbell Realty Director of Marketing Rachel Flint said Monday the project is now on track to be completed on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. Flint said a ribbon cutting is planned for Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Flint said perfect weather helped crews finish a day and a half ahead of time. The original building scheduled including rain delays, which were not needed.

Officials said building nine town homes normally would take about six months to complete, but not with an army of volunteers.

The project benefits low-income house group.

"This was just phenomenal to see that they could do this in nine days," said Sister Stella Neill, of Anaiwm Housing.

By early Monday kitchen cupboards were already installed, closet doors mounted and carpet padding ready to be rolled out.

"From Day 1, they kept saying, 'We're about 4 hours ahead.' Then day 2, 'We might be a day ahead'. I never dreamed it would be 2 days," said Neill.

"We've had absolutely beautiful weather since we started this build," said Rick Tollakson, President and CEO of Hubbell Realty.

"It's the weather, it's the number of volunteers, it's the efficiency that the construction crews did. You know, it just moved," said Neill.

For example, 44 plumbers showed up at the job site at once while about a dozen electricians were working on the lights.

"I hear wow all the time. They can't believe it," said Tollakson. "These are all, over 1,600 square foot homes, so they're pretty good size."

"In a week we'll be done. It's fantastic," said Neill.

"They're putting the electrical lights on the outside, the lights on the inside. Gotta hook up all the outlets, all the switches," said Tollakson.
